Inside the studio

The pictures on this page are the informal side of a working product development shop. This is what sits behind them.

LA NPDT works out of Ruston, Louisiana, where the design desks and the prototyping bench are in the same building. That arrangement is the reason most of these photos exist: a part comes off a printer, somebody holds it up, and the design changes that afternoon.

The team is cross-functional by design — engineers and designers with graduate degrees, a prototyping engineer who builds electromechanical systems and runs the 3D manufacturing, and marketing people who have taken products to retail shelves. Work runs in sprints with a review at the end of each, which is also why the whiteboards in these pictures are never clean.

If you want the formal version of this — finished products, process and results — the portfolio is the better page. This one is for the people who make them.

About the studio

Where is LA NPDT located?

Ruston, Louisiana. The LA in our name is Louisiana, not Los Angeles — a distinction that surprises people often enough that it is worth stating here.

Can I visit the shop?

Yes, by appointment. Most clients work with us remotely, but if you are nearby or want to see a build in person, arrange it through the contact page. We are open Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm Central.

Do you photograph client products?

We produce product photography, renders and video for the products we develop, and we publish them only with the client's permission. Anything under NDA stays off this site.
