New product marketing: launch a physical product people can buy
Digital marketing is sure to give a boost to your business! LA NPDT offers several result-oriented solutions to ensure your message is heard and seen!
New product marketing turns a finished physical product into something a buyer, retailer or licensee will say yes to: positioning, product photography, renderings, a launch video, packaging artwork, a sell sheet and ready listings. LA NPDT builds these from the same CAD and prototypes we engineered, so the imagery matches the unit that ships. Most launch packages run four to eight weeks.
New product marketing is the work of turning a finished physical product into something a buyer, retailer or licensee will actually say yes to. For hardware that means positioning and a clear claim, product photography and renderings, a launch video, packaging and label artwork, a sell sheet, and listings ready for Amazon, a retail buyer meeting or a crowdfunding page.
LA NPDT builds these from the same CAD and prototypes we engineered, so the imagery matches the product that ships. Most launch packages run four to eight weeks alongside the tail end of development.
What a launch package includes
| Deliverable | What it is | Typical timing |
|---|---|---|
| Positioning and claim | Who the product is for, the one problem it solves, and the language used everywhere else | Week 1 |
| Product photography | Studio shots of real prototype or first-article units, plus lifestyle scenes | Weeks 2-3 |
| Renderings and animation | Photoreal stills and exploded or in-use animation straight from the CAD | Weeks 2-4 |
| Launch video | 30 to 90 seconds for a crowdfunding page, ad set or retail pitch | Weeks 3-5 |
| Packaging and labels | Dielines, artwork, barcodes and required regulatory copy | Weeks 3-6 |
| Sell sheet and listing copy | One-page buyer sheet, Amazon or Shopify listing, spec table | Weeks 4-6 |
Why launch assets should come from the engineering team
Agencies that never touched the CAD have to invent the product visually, and the result rarely matches the unit that arrives from the factory: wrong parting lines, colors that the molder cannot hit, claims the design cannot support.
We render from the released model, shoot the actual prototype, and write claims we can back with test data.
When the design changes in design for manufacturing, the marketing assets get updated from the same source file instead of being redrawn.
Three launch routes we support
- Direct to consumer. Store or Amazon listing, photography set, ad creative and a launch video, with packaging built for shipping without a second box.
- Retail and distribution. Sell sheet, spec table, planogram-friendly packaging, case-pack artwork and buyer-ready samples.
- Licensing. A pitch package a licensee can evaluate quickly: renderings, a working prototype, a cost picture and the IP position, backed by a prior art search.
Marketing a new product with a small team
Most of our clients are one to five people and cannot staff a marketing department for one launch. The practical order is: get one credible product image set, one clear claim, and one place to buy. Everything else, paid ads, PR, influencer seeding, only pays back once those three exist. We sequence work that way so the first spend produces assets you keep using.
Where launch work fits with the build
Launch work usually sits on top of a build: 3D modeling and animation for renders, video production, graphic design for packaging, and end-to-end product development when the product itself is not finished yet. Reviews, ratings and seller feedback after launch are handled as part of listing management rather than as a separate service.
Frequently asked questions
When should new product marketing start?+
As soon as the design is frozen for tooling. Renderings can be produced from released CAD before the first molded parts exist, which is what lets a launch page go live the same month production starts.
Can you market a product you did not design?+
Yes. Send the CAD or a production sample. If there is no usable CAD we can scan or model the part first, which also gives you files for future revisions.
What does a launch package cost?+
A focused set of renderings, photography and a sell sheet typically runs in the low thousands. A full launch with video, packaging artwork and listings is larger and is quoted against the deliverable list above.
Do you run ads or manage the store?+
We build the assets, the listings and the launch plan. Ongoing ad management is not our core service, and we will say so rather than bill for it badly.
