The challenge

Our animated video production company was challenged to cover thousands of years of manufacturing technology progress into a 2 minute web video production.

Our solution

We started the project with researching and reading lots of literature on the subject. After highlighting the most important historical events, inventions, and people, we condensed all the information into a 250 words script. The next step was creating a storyboard. After several revisions we confirmed the storyboard and started the process of vitalizing the static graphics. The last part was recording and adding the voice-over.

The result

Before creating this video our animated video production company searched the whole internet but couldn’t find any short video that showed the history of manufacturing technology advancement. So we decided to create one. This web video production was later used in several of our 3D Printing training courses.

Web video has different rules than broadcast

Web viewers arrive with sound off, on a phone, deciding within three seconds. That means captions by default, the point stated visually up front, and file sizes small enough not to damage page speed — considerations that never come up in traditional production.

How we produce it

We plan shots that read at small sizes, keep cuts short, and burn or attach captions so the message survives muted playback. Every project is delivered in web-optimized encodings plus vertical variants, so the same shoot serves the website, product pages and social channels.

Frequently asked questions

Will video slow down our website?

Not if encoded and hosted correctly — we deliver compressed variants and poster frames sized for fast loading.

Do you produce product demonstration videos?

Yes, including 3D animation when the product is not yet manufactured.

What does web video production cost?

Most projects run $2,500 to $15,000 depending on shoot days, animation and the number of deliverables.

Capabilities used on this project

  • Low-volume manufacturing

Bridge tooling, short-run production and supplier management for first commercial batches.

  • Rapid prototyping services

3D printing, CNC machining, urethane casting and functional prototype builds with published materials, tolerances and lead times.

Hand Tennis Glove: Designing the Equipment Behind a New Sport

Anthony Soto came to LA NPDT with a taped-together prototype and a simple question: could you hit a real tennis ball with your hand? We designed the glove, engineered a custom rubber-plastic striking pad, solved the stitching and durability problems, prepared it for manufacturing and produced the first articles and short-run batch that launched Hand Tennis as a sport.

QMS2GO Voice Recorder: Consumer Electronics Product Development, End to End

QMS2GO needed a way for quality managers to capture what happens on a noisy plant floor without carrying a phone into a secured facility. LA NPDT designed, engineered, prototyped and manufactured a wearable digital voice recorder: a 6061 aluminum body, DSP noise cancellation tuned for industrial noise, 16 GB of storage, 12+ hours of runtime, a magnetic clip and lanyard, and a USB connection that plugs straight into a workstation.
