Product Packaging Services: Elevating Your Brand with Strategic Packaging Solutions
Product packaging is much more than a protective covering, it's an integral part of your brand's identity, a key driver of customer engagement.
Product packaging development covers structure and graphics together: the carton, tray, blister or case that protects the product, plus the artwork that sells it. Structure is decided by ISTA transit testing and the retailer's pack spec; cost is decided by board grade, die count and how many units fit a pallet.

At LA NPDT, we know that product packaging is far more than just a protective layer—it’s a crucial part of your brand’s identity and plays a key role in driving customer engagement. In fact, studies show that72% of consumers say packaging design influences their purchasing decisions, making it a critical factor in product success.
Effective packaging doesn’t just safeguard your product—it communicates your brand’s values, attracts attention on the shelf, and enhances the overall user experience. With the global packaging industry expected to reach $1 trillion by 2024, the competition for standout designs is fiercer than ever, and your packaging must make a lasting impression.
At LA NPDT, our expertise in packaging design and prototyping, particularly in the luxury and mass-market sectors, ensures that your product not only looks great but also resonates with your target audience.
We help businesses create packaging that is both functional and visually striking, offering solutions that differentiate your product in a crowded marketplace.
Our holistic approach starts with a deep dive into your brand’s identity and an analysis of your audience’s needs. From there, we develop strategic packaging solutions that align with your brand’s aesthetic, meet functional requirements, and support your marketing goals. Whether it’s luxury packaging for high-end goods or cost-effective solutions for mass-market products, we’re here to make sure your packaging elevates your brand.
With our extensive experience in materials, sustainability trends, and design innovation, we can ensure that your packaging not only meets the needs of today’s consumers but also reflects a forward-thinking approach to eco-friendly packaging solutions, which are becoming increasingly important in the global market.

Why Choose LA NPDT for Your Packaging Needs?
We have a proven track record of developing packaging for luxury products, where the unboxing experience is as important as the product itself.
Our work with Qannati, a Bahrain-based luxury watch manufacturer, exemplifies this.
We designed and prototyped a luxury watch box that matched the elegance and exclusivity of the Qannati watches, offering practical benefits like low-volume production through advanced 3D printing techniques.
This approach allowed Qannati to produce high-quality packaging on demand, saving on costs and production time while maintaining the premium feel of their brand.
Innovative Prototyping Solutions
Our in-house prototyping capabilities enable us to quickly develop and test packaging designs, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional criteria.
For Qannati, we explored various materials and technologies, including CNC machining and resin 3D printing, to find the perfect balance between luxury and manufacturability.
This iterative process resulted in a packaging solution that was not only visually stunning but also cost-effective for limited production runs.
Beyond luxury products, we excel in creating packaging solutions geared towards mass marketing and retail success. Our portfolio includes projects like the Gelato For Your Face packaging, where we designed playful and functional packaging that enhanced product visibility and appeal on store shelves. We understand the nuances of creating packaging that not only protects the product but also engages consumers and drives sales.
FDA-registered Facility
As an FDA-registered facility, we are equipped to manufacture products requiring FDA certification or registration, ensuring that your product adheres to the highest safety and compliance standards.
Packaging Solutions That Elevate Your Product
Qannati Luxury Watch Packaging Prototype
Qannati, a luxury watch brand, required a packaging solution that reflected the high value and exclusivity of their watches. The packaging needed to be elegant, durable, and manufacturable in small quantities without sacrificing quality.
We developed a series of prototypes using a variety of materials and techniques.
The final solution was a resin 3D-printed box with a luxurious leather interior and an aluminum lock, perfectly embodying the brand’s sophistication.

The use of 3D printing allowed for low-volume production, making it feasible to produce the packaging on-demand and customize it per customer requests.
This approach not only met the aesthetic requirements but also saved Qannati significant costs associated with traditional manufacturing methods.
Marketing Packaging Design for Fashionit®'s U Speaker
Fashionit® wanted packaging for their U Speaker, a portable Bluetooth device, that reflected their youthful brand and grabbed attention on crowded retail shelves.
The packaging needed to protect the product during shipping while also enhancing its appeal to boost sales.
LA NPDT created bold, colorful packaging with playful graphics to reflect Fashionit®’s trendy identity.
The design showcased the speaker’s portability, a key selling feature, while also providing practical protection for the product. High-quality materials ensured both durability and ease of handling for consumers.
The packaging successfully captured Fashionit®’s brand essence and boosted product visibility, serving as both protection and a marketing tool that drove consumer interest and sales.
The project demonstrated LA NPDT’s ability to combine aesthetics with functionality to meet brand objectives.

Custom Packaging Design for Luxury Gelato Skincare Products
The brand needed packaging that would reflect the luxurious nature of their gelato-inspired skincare products.
It had to be visually appealing, provide protection, and communicate the premium, high-end nature of the product.
We designed sophisticated packaging that blended luxury with the playful gelato theme. High-quality materials, such as a soft-touch finish and embossed logos, were used to evoke a sense of exclusivity.
The packaging design incorporated elements reminiscent of traditional gelato containers, reinforcing the brand’s unique concept while standing out in a competitive market.

Packaging standards and retailer requirements
Packaging fails in two places: on the truck and at the retailer's dock. These are the specs that decide both.
| Standard or rule | What it requires | What it changes in the design |
|---|---|---|
| ISTA 3A / 6-Amazon | Drop, vibration and compression testing for parcel and e-commerce shipment. | Sets board grade, insert design and whether the retail box can ship on its own. |
| Amazon FFP / SIOC | Frustration-free and ships-in-own-container certification. | Removes the master carton entirely — a real per-unit saving when it qualifies. |
| ASTM D642 compression | Stacking strength for palletized loads. | Drives flute selection (B, C, E) and carton wall design. |
| FTC labeling + UPC/GS1 | Country of origin, net contents, barcode standards. | Fixes the artwork panel layout before print files are released. |
| Sustainability rules (EPR) | Extended producer responsibility fees in several US states and the EU. | Favors mono-material paperboard over mixed plastic-and-board constructions. |
Packaging development scope and cost
Structural and graphic packaging are quoted separately because many clients already have one of the two.
| Deliverable | What it includes | Timing | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Structural design | Dieline, insert or tray, 3D mock-up, material spec | 1–3 weeks | $1,800 – $6,500 |
| Graphic design | Panel layout, typography, print-ready artwork, dielines merged | 2–4 weeks | $2,000 – $8,000 |
| Physical mock-ups | Cut-and-fold samples, printed comps, thermoformed trays | 1–2 weeks | $600 – $3,000 |
| Blister / thermoform tooling | Aluminum thermoform tool, PET or RPET | 3–5 weeks | $2,500 – $9,000 |
| Transit testing | ISTA 3A or Amazon 6 series at an accredited lab | 2–3 weeks | $1,500 – $5,000 |
| Product photography and renderings | Studio shots and CAD renders for listings and sell sheets | 1–2 weeks | $1,200 – $5,000 |
Ranges are what comparable projects have actually cost here, not list prices. Every project is quoted stage by stage, so you approve the next step with real numbers in front of you. See the prototype cost calculator for a first estimate on your own part.

Packaging development questions
Do I need structural design if I already have a graphic designer?
Usually yes. Graphic designers work on a dieline someone else has to create and validate. Structural design decides board grade, insert geometry, transit survival and how many units fit a pallet — the parts that determine cost.
What is ISTA testing and do I have to do it?
ISTA is a standardized drop, vibration and compression protocol for shipped packages. Amazon and most big-box retailers require a passing report before they will accept a product, and it costs $1,500 to $5,000 at an accredited lab.
How do I lower packaging cost?
Reduce the pack footprint so more units fit a pallet, use one material instead of a plastic-and-board mix, choose a stock carton size where possible, and design to ship in its own container so you drop the master carton.
Can you produce the packaging, not just design it?
We deliver print-ready files and mock-ups, and we manage the packaging supplier alongside the product factory so dielines, artwork and pack-out instructions all reach the same line together.
