Why we keep these under one roof

Most product failures we get called into are hand-off failures, not design failures.

A designer who never has to build the part will draw a wall thickness the molder rejects. An engineer who never saw the concept intent will value the tolerance stack over the thing that made the product worth buying. When those two people sit on the same project, the correction happens in an afternoon instead of in a change order.

That is the practical reason this list is broad. A connected consumer device needs mechanical design, electronics, firmware, a print sell sheet and a launch site — five vendors, or one team with one schedule. The percentages above are just the record of which combinations we have run most often.

It also changes how estimates behave. When the group that designs the part is the group that prints and assembles it, the cost of a change is known before it is drawn, so budgets move less between the concept review and the first build.

Questions about our capabilities

What disciplines does LA NPDT cover in-house?

Product discovery and research, industrial and concept design, mechanical and electronic engineering, prototyping, low-volume manufacturing, plus the software, web and visual work a launch needs. The point of keeping them together is that one team carries a decision from sketch through tooling instead of handing it across three vendors.

What do the percentages on this page mean?

They are the share of our projects that included that discipline end to end. A project counted under product development, for example, is one we carried from concept through a working build, not one where we only contributed a drawing.

Can you take on a single stage instead of the whole program?

Yes. Most engagements are a la carte — a CAD package, a prototype build, a manufacturing hand-off — and only some run as a full end-to-end program. The solutions page lays out the common entry points with timelines and budget bands.

Where is the team based?

Ruston, Louisiana. The whole team works from the United States, which is why our engineering hours land in the same time zone as most of our clients and why prototypes ship domestically.
