The margin stack, worked backwards

Set the shelf price first, then work down.

A common consumer structure is a retailer margin of 40 to 50 percent of the shelf price, a distributor or platform take of 10 to 20 percent of what remains, freight, duty and warehousing of another 8 to 15 percent, and a target gross margin for the brand of 50 percent or better on what is left.
