Website migration services move your site to a new platform without losing the search rankings you spent years earning — URL by URL, with redirects and metadata preserved.
This project was exactly that: a full platform migration where every legacy URL was mapped, redirected or preserved, and organic traffic carried through the move.

Migrations lose traffic when URLs are treated as an afterthought
The technology change is rarely what hurts a site. Traffic disappears because a new platform invents new URL patterns, old pages 404, and redirect chains eat link equity. A safe migration starts with a full crawl of the existing site and a row-by-row decision for every URL before anything is rebuilt.
How we run a migration
We inventory every indexed page, map each one to its destination, and preserve titles, descriptions and heading structure unless there is a reason to improve them. Redirects are 301, tested in bulk before launch, and the sitemap is resubmitted the day of cutover. Rankings are compared before and after so any drop is caught within days rather than quarters.
Frequently asked questions
Will we lose rankings?
A well-mapped migration usually sees a brief dip that recovers within two to six weeks. Losses come from missed redirects, which is why the URL inventory comes first.
Can you migrate from WordPress to a modern stack?
Yes — that is the most common request, and we preserve the existing URL structure exactly.
What about images, PDFs and blog archives?
They are inventoried and redirected too; media and old posts often carry links you cannot afford to break.
How to migrate a website without losing rankings
1. Inventory every ranking URL before touching anything
Pull the sitemap and Search Console data first. The pages that earn traffic get explicit mapping; you cannot protect what you have not listed.
2. Preserve URLs where possible, 301 where not
Keeping a URL identical is free ranking protection. Every URL that must change gets a permanent 301 to its closest equivalent — never to the homepage.
3. Carry metadata and content quality across
Titles, descriptions, headings and body copy move with the pages. A migration that also rewrites everything makes ranking drops impossible to diagnose.
4. Watch Search Console for ninety days
Coverage errors, redirect chains and soft 404s surface in the weeks after launch. Migration is not done at go-live; it is done when the data says the move held.
| Risk | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Lost rankings | Changed URLs without 301s | Redirect map built from the inventory |
| 404 errors | Dropped pages | Preserve or redirect every legacy URL |
| Duplicate content | Old and new both live | Canonicals and full cutover |
| Slow crawl recovery | No sitemap on new platform | Submit new sitemap at launch |
Questions about this project
Straight answers from the engineers who ran the build. Have a different question? Ask us directly.
Talk to an engineerHow much does website migration cost?
A structured migration of a small-to-mid business site typically runs $3,000 to $15,000 depending on page count and platform complexity.
Will migration hurt our Google rankings?
Done with URL preservation and a complete 301 map, rankings typically hold or dip briefly and recover. Done casually, migration is one of the most reliable ways to lose organic traffic.
How long does a website migration take?
Four to ten weeks depending on site size, including the redirect map and post-launch monitoring period.
