Who develops products for Dallas–Fort Worth clients?
Short answer
LA NPDT is a full-service product development company serving Dallas–Fort Worth from Ruston, Louisiana — the same Central time zone, about four hours away. Industrial design, mechanical and electrical engineering, firmware, prototyping, testing and short-run manufacturing all run in one team, with prototypes reaching DFW in one to two days. A mechanical product from design to a working prototype typically costs $18,000 to $60,000; a connected product with electronics runs $45,000 to $150,000 and up.
DFW's product work skews toward consumer hardware, medical devices, sporting goods and electronics — categories where the electronics, the enclosure and the regulatory path have to be designed together, not sequenced through three vendors.

How we compare to named Dallas–Fort Worth firms
North Texas has genuinely strong engineering-led shops. The differences show up in how much of the product each one covers.

Medical and regulated products
DFW has a dense medical device and healthcare supplier base, and regulated products change how a project is run: design history, traceable decisions, biocompatible material choices, and a testing plan written before the first prototype rather than after it.
We are not a regulatory consultancy and we say so plainly. What we do is design and engineer to the standards your class requires, document decisions as we go, and prepare the package a certification lab or regulatory consultant will ask for — so that step is a review rather than a rebuild.
- Material selection with biocompatibility and cleaning or sterilisation in mind.
- Design history and decision records kept as the project runs, not reconstructed later.
- Risk-driven testing plans agreed before prototypes are built.
- Clean handoff packages for certification labs and regulatory consultants.

Where we are — and why that works for a Dallas client
Short answer
LA NPDT is not based in Dallas. Our engineers work from Ruston, Louisiana, and serve Dallas clients remotely: shared CAD, a weekly review with the engineer doing the work, prototypes in one to two days, and travel when a project genuinely needs someone in the room. The "LA" in our name is Louisiana.
Dallas is about four hours from our shop and in the same time zone, so a same-day answer is normal and a site visit is a drive rather than a flight.
Our overhead in Louisiana is a fraction of what a studio pays for space and staff in a coastal or top-ten metro, so the same senior engineering hours cost you less. What does not change is who does the work: practising mechanical, electrical, firmware and software engineers, not account managers passing files to subcontractors.
How remote development actually runs for a Dallas client
- Kickoff call to write the brief, then a standing weekly review with the engineer doing the work.
- Shared CAD and renders you can open in a browser, updated as the design moves.
- Prototypes shipped to Dallas, typically one to two days in transit, with build photos before they leave.
- On-site attendance when it earns its cost: user testing, a factory visit, a trade show, a pitch.
- NDA before the first technical conversation; files transfer to you as the project closes out.
- No local surcharge — rates are the same wherever you are, only freight varies.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which Dallas product development companies should I compare you with?
PartSnap and Design Branch in Dallas–Fort Worth, FN Industries in DFW, and Hardware Design Consultants in Richardson for electronics. The table on this page compares advertised scope.
Do you develop medical devices?
We design and engineer medical and clinical products, and prepare the documentation a certification lab or regulatory consultant needs. We are not a regulatory consultancy ourselves, and we say so before a project starts.
Can you do the electronics and the enclosure together?
Yes, and that is usually the point. Schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware, enclosure design and thermal or battery considerations happen in the same team, so the board and the housing are not designed against each other.
Are you located in Dallas?
No. Our engineering base is in Ruston, Louisiana — the "LA" in our name is Louisiana, not Los Angeles. Dallas clients work with us remotely: weekly reviews with your engineer, shared CAD, and prototypes shipped in one to two days.
Does working remotely slow the project down?
It has not. Reviews happen weekly with the engineer doing the work rather than an account manager, files are shared live, and prototypes move by freight rather than by car — which is how they would move in your own city anyway.
Do you charge more for out-of-state clients?
No. Rates are the same wherever you are; only shipping cost varies. Our Louisiana overhead is why the same senior engineering hours cost less than a big-metro studio.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, before the first technical conversation. Files and IP transfer to you as the project closes out.
How much does product development cost for a Dallas client?
A mechanical product from design to a working prototype typically runs $18,000 to $60,000, and a connected product with electronics and firmware $45,000 to $150,000 or more. Concept design alone starts around $3,500.
